A hotel receptionist should know
  1. the size of your property in square metre, square km or acres.
  2. the size of the residential area; the area where there are accommodation buildings or villas.
  3. the size of the garden or lawn area.
  4. the size and the depth of all hotel’s swimming pools, at which hours they are available
  5. contact numbers used to call for outside services such as laundry agents, F&B suppliers, tour operators, travel agents, immigration office, other receptionists’ numbers, all extension numbers etc.
  6. how many restaurants your hotel has got, at which hours they are opened, and if they serve any specialty food, how many tables are there in each restaurant and the seating capacity of one table.
  7. if there is any special promotion in the restaurant; wine promotion, special set dinners, Sunday special, etc.
  8. how many spa outlets your hotel has got, at which hours they are opened and how many customers can the spa service at a time.
  9. if there is any special promotion for spa; inclusive with room charge, various packages, etc.
  10. how many fitness centres your hotel has got, at which hours they are opened, and what kind of exercises guests can do there or if there is any personal trainer
  11. what kind of tours that the front desk can offer to guests at the moment; prices and if there is any discount, cancellation policy and terms of payment
  12. monthly events of Thailand and the city for making good suggestions to guests, if there will be any inquiries regarding events and things to do in some specific months/period of time.
  13. other services other departments can provide and the time the service is active/available. (laundry service, room service, shuttle bus service to the beach or to town, flowers or cakes for any special occasion, in-room dinning or private cooks, babysitting, etc)
  14. how guests ask for/ use the services the hotel can provide.
  15. at least 75% of the travel agents that we service frequently and benefit us in room revenues.
  16. what would be necessary for guest stay, what kind of questions guests would ask while being in-house with us. (shopping guides, things the locals do, some Thai cultural ideas, dos and don’ts in Thailand, etc)
  17. distance of travel time from the hotel to

  1. the nearest hotels/resorts of equivalent facilities and services
  2. categories of accommodation (rooms, villas/bungalows, serviced apartment, pool villas, cliff villas, garden view, ocean view / sea view / sea facing, beachfront / ocean front, terraced rooms, poolside/ pool access / pool facing, water villas
  3. the size, facilities in each room type, and the services provided for that room type
  4. bed types that fit in each specific room type ( 2 single beds, 1 king sized bed, 1 queen sized bed, extra bed, rollaway bed, sofa bed, etc.)
